The second hand "sweeps" similar to a mechanical movement and is more precise for elapsed time measurement. Technically, Miyota used fine-tooth “velvet wheel” for turning of the second hand – as is traditionally used in all mechanical chronographs. 4 years of battery life (not special - regular battery) resulting from technically perfect kinematic scheme with minimal friction in a big sub-dial watch.
